Haymarket Brands

What Car? , the UK’s biggest car-buying brand, has 3 magazines, a market-leading website and several established brand extensions.
What Car? Target Price

The What Car? Target Price is designed to answer a car buyer's biggest question: "How much should I pay for my new car?"

It is a realistic discount that should be within anyone's reach. It is worked out with the help of an army of mystery shoppers, who constantly research prices all over the UK. They deal directly with dealers, get the low-down on the latest offers available from industry insiders, then double-check these prices with independent sources.

Every Target Price quote comes with written confirmation from a dealer: What Car? will put any users of the service in touch with that dealer if their local dealer won't match it.

What Car? Car of the Year Awards

The What Car? Car of the Year Awards are the prizes that every car maker on the planet wants to pick up. They are given out only to the cars that set the highest standards in their class after going through the toughest, most rigorous tests in the business. And each year the best of the best is given the ultimate accolade in motoring: the What Car? Car of the Year Award.

Any previous winner of a What Car? Award can tell you what they mean for their business. The authority of the What Car? brand sells cars plain and simple. It adds power to advertising and marketing campaigns and is a huge draw to get potential customers through the showroom doors and buying the chosen models.

The What Car? Awards are the pinnacle of motoring achievement and because of that they reach the forefront of the public’s awareness. That's why winning a What Car? Car of the Year Award is such a great achievement, which guarantees increased sales and critical acclaim.

What Car? Green Car of the Year Awards

Established in 2008, the What Car? Green Car of the Year Awards were created to reflect the increasing importance of environmental considerations in car buyers' minds. Highlighting the most important eco-friendly cars on sale, the inaugural awards formed a centrepiece in the Greener Driving Pavilion at the British International Motor show. In their second year, the awards were held at City Hall in London, with honorary guest speaker, Mayor Boris Johnson, presenting the top prize. A partnership was also established with the Low Carbon Vehicle partnership. This continued through 2009, when the awards ceremony grew to include more guests and a dinner presentation at a larger venue, Twickenham Rugby stadium. A car that is selected for a What Car? Green Car of the Year award does not simply offer the lowest CO2 figures; it also has to score highly in other important buying considerations, from space and practicality, to buying and running costs. British car buyers have a passion for eco-friendly cars and the What Car? Green Awards are just as important to them as they are to the car industry across the world.
