Autocar - the world’s best tests since 1928
The Autocar-Courland Next Generation Award

The Autocar-Courland Next Generation Award is a national competition to identify, support and develop top automotive talent of the future. Entrants from UK universities are invited to answer a brief set by Autocar’s editor-in-chief, Steve Cropley – with a view to winning a ‘money-can’t-buy’ experience in the British automotive industry and a substantial cash prize. The six best entrants attend a Dragon’s Den-style judging day at the home of Autocar, where they will have the chance to present their ideas to a panel of leading industry executives. Three finalists are then invited to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ annual dinner, where the winner will be announced in front of an audience of industry heads. The winner receives a cash prize and work experience at the leading automotive organisations supporting the award - a unique opportunity for the winner to acquire contacts, experience and perhaps even a job offer!

Car Of The Year

Autocar is a founding member of the International Car of the Year organisation, a non-profit institution, independent of the motor industry, that gives out the Car of the Year award.

The Car of the Year award is judged by a panel of nearly 60 senior motoring journalists from 23 countries across Europe. Autocar supplies panelits tasked with forming an expert, independent judgement of all new cars on the European market, to identify the most outstanding new car to go on sale in the 12 months preceding the date of the title.

Previous winners include the Nissan Leaf (2011), Volkswagen Polo (2010), the Vauxhall Insignia (2009) and the Fiat 500 (2008).
